Description
Manufacturer: HKS
Product: Boost Controller EVC7
Part number: 45003-AK013
HKS’s new-generation CPU, HIPER-ENGINE II, delivers the best boost control in EVC history.
- 2.4-inch TFT full-colour LCD display. Simple display layout, character size and font all improve legibility.
- Boost control functionality carries over from the EVC6-IR 2.4, with an Easy Operation System that improves the feel of setting up and adjusting the unit.
- Boost is set by turning a dial. Four independent boost settings can be stored and used for different purposes. The correction map uses a 10 x 10 grid.
- The EVC HIPER-ENGINE II CPU improves control speed and supports CAN communication. Optional functions are planned for future support.
- The valve unit uses the stepper motor that EVC is known for, giving finer, more stable boost control.
Features
- Compact design — both the display unit and the valve unit are compact, making them easy to install in the cabin and engine bay.
- High boost capability — boost control from stock levels up to 300 kPa (43.0 PSI).
- Simple boost setting — boost for modes A, B, C and D is entered directly, for intuitive operation.
- Return to stock — switching the EVC function off returns the car to standard boost. On some vehicles boost may end up slightly lower than before installation.
- Scramble function — raises boost by the scramble setting; activated by pressing the dial on the display unit.
- 4-mode boost setting — four independent boost settings for different uses.
- Warning function — if boost exceeds the warning value and the warning conditions are met, the unit alerts with a buzzer and on-screen warning and drops boost by the set number of points, protecting the turbo and engine from overboost damage.
- Throttle signal input — feeding in a throttle position sensor signal allows boost control mapped to throttle opening. Can be disabled.
- Engine speed signal input — feeding in an engine speed or ignition signal allows boost control mapped to rpm. Cylinder count is settable from 1 to 8, and it supports engine speeds up to 12,000 rpm. Can be disabled.
- Vehicle speed signal input — feeding in a vehicle speed signal allows boost control mapped to road speed. Pulse count is settable from 2 to 16, and it supports speeds up to 500 km/h. Can be disabled.
- Map correction — feed in a throttle signal plus either engine speed or vehicle speed and you can shape the boost characteristic freely using a 3D map on those two axes (Valve Control Value +/-300 points). Can be disabled.
- Data memory — settings are held in internal memory and are not lost when the ignition is switched off or the battery is disconnected. Can be disabled.
- Exhaust bypass type selection — works with both conventional actuator-operated swing valves and the poppet-valve wastegates found on large turbos.
- Pressure unit selection — kPa or PSI.
- Dimmer — display unit brightness is adjustable to taste.
- Data lock — a PIN can be set to prevent accidental changes to settings.
- Large colour display — good visibility day or night, and enough on-screen information to read what you need at a glance.
