Since its launch, the “Ball Lock System RAPFIX” has been a runaway hit, thanks to the everyday convenience its refined design delivers and the peace of mind of being Japanese road-legal (shaken compliant). RAPFIX II is the evolved version, adding true one-action mounting and a significantly lighter weight on top of those qualities.

Weight reduction – 174 grams lighter

Sleeve
To cut weight while retaining the required strength, RAPFIX II switches from the steel (mild steel) used on the original RAPFIX to cold-forged A5056 aluminium alloy.

Socket & plug
As before, cold-forged A5056 aluminium alloy is used. This material anodises with excellent colour quality and meets Works Bell’s in-house design strength standards.

Proof of authenticity and safety

Unfortunately, poor-quality imitations of RAPFIX are produced overseas and some have found their way into the domestic market. These copies closely mimic the appearance of our genuine RAPFIX and are illegal counterfeit goods – a problem that has drawn wider public concern in recent years, and one we regard as deeply regrettable.

The Ball Lock System RAPFIX is a critical safety component: it is directly involved in steering the car and therefore in the safety of the driver. Every unit we manufacture and sell has had its safety confirmed through a range of industrial tests. It is not hard to imagine the serious accidents that could result from unknowingly fitting a counterfeit of markedly inferior quality and safety. To protect customers who choose RAPFIX, genuine units carry silk-screened “made in japan” and “WorksBell” brand markings on the sleeve, and a laser-engraved patent number on the plug.

Improved quality – surface treatment

Sleeve
Beyond the material strength gained from optimised cold forging, RAPFIX II uses surface treatments chosen to further improve finish quality and wear resistance while also being environmentally considerate. Silver sleeves receive a special treatment; black sleeves receive a hard anodised finish.

Sleeve inner surface
The socket sliding surface (the inside of the sleeve) is Teflon coated, which resists scratching of the socket and gives a smoother slide action when releasing the sleeve.

Socket & plug
As on the original RAPFIX, the socket and plug are anodised to reduce wear from friction in use and to give a clean, attractive appearance.

Please note: the steering boss is sold separately. A separate steering boss is required for installation.
