The development brief for the SUPER COPPERMIX was to build the strongest single-plate clutch that could handle a 420 ps SR20DET while remaining easy to drive.

A single-plate clutch system that delivers Coppermix’s signature street driveability together with high-power capacity. A Standard Spec rated for 380 ps is also available in this series.

Large ø240 mm disc
Pairing a ø240 mm Coppermix disc with an aluminium cover gives consistent torque transfer and good cooling. NISMO evaluated several designs, including competitor products, and chose ø240 mm to avoid the performance drop that comes from running a small-diameter disc under high load. Rival high-power single-plate clutches typically combine a small-diameter disc with a very high clamp-load cover, which is really just a multi-plate disc reused at high load. The ø240 mm choice is the result of prioritising durability and driveability.

Lightweight flywheel included
A dedicated chromoly lightweight flywheel is supplied, set at an ideal weight for maintaining torque.

Aluminium cover
A dedicated aluminium cover is used for superior heat dissipation.

Strap-drive cover
A strap-drive cover is used to prevent clutch drag. This mechanism uses the reaction force of the strap plates to pull the pressure plate away from the disc; it is standard OEM equipment on all production manual-transmission cars.
