Because the steering wheel tilts up, getting in and out of a car fitted with bucket or sports seats becomes far easier. It also opens up access to the dashboard and the pedal area, which were previously awkward to reach.

Ball Lock System – design and function together
The tilt steering system uses our patented Ball Lock System. It was developed from RAPFIX, the proven one-touch steering wheel release system. Applying RAPFIX’s distinctive patented technology, the male and female halves engage via ball bearings, giving smooth engagement with minimal play. Like RAPFIX, it is an equipment part with a high standard of safety and reliability. The RAPFIX GTC Ball Lock System packs serious engineering into every part – a product Works Bell and Night Pager are proud of.

No compromise on safety or convenience
A two-step lock guards against the unexpected. The lock cannot be released unless the safety trigger is slid first, so the wheel will not tilt up from accidental contact while driving. Once tilted, the steering wheel is held by a plunger mechanism that suspends it infinitely adjustably – so you can match the meter hood shape of your particular car, or simply stop it wherever you prefer. The horn button also remains usable: horn terminals are built into the body (plug) and the tilt section (socket), so power to the horn switch is cut when tilted up and is reliably restored through dedicated electrical contacts when tilted down and locked.

An advantage over conventional products
Most competing products offering similar functionality struggle, by virtue of their construction, to suppress the play generated by radial steering loads – so the convenience of tilt comes at the cost of steering precision and feel. With RAPFIX GTC, the B.L.S. (Ball Lock System) delivers quality far beyond conventional products.
